Pyropel® MD-18 is a lightweight, high-temperature, semi-rigid insulation material. It can be formed into complex shapes or cut from flat sheets, and will withstand continuous use up to 550°F and intermittent exposure up to 800°F. It will not burn or melt when exposed to direct flame and emits virtually no toxic fumes and very little smoke during thermal decomposition.
Typical Uses / Industry
Pyropel MD-18 is more rigid and tougher than MD-12 with enhanced durability due to its' higher density. The improved mechanical properties make Pyropel MD-18 the choice for non- load bearing industrial applications.
Typical industrial process applications are perimeter insulation on tooling used in plastic and rubber molding, flat and blown film extrusion, resin transfer molding and thermoset and thermoplastic compression molding. Pyropel MD-18 is also used to insulate guards, shrouds, ovens and other heated machinery resulting in lower operating cost and improving employee safety and comfort.
Custom Finishing and Fabricating
Pyropel MD-18 is available in sheets or parts made to customer specifications.
